badatapologies: (amend this)

My mom decided to join me at the Equality Arizona/Join The Impact rally and march at Phoenix City Hall this morning, which was amazing. Better still, we marched to the Arizona State Capitol, eagerly joining in the "what do we want? equal rights! when do we want it? now!" chant. Okay, by the time we hobbled to the ol' copper dome we might have been chanting "what do we want? a ride to the car!" I think I need to start working out.

Lots more pics on my flickr page....

Yaaay! On the SLOG, there was mention of Judgment Day Types with signs reading "Repent Or Else". The Slogger wanted to get a chant going of "What do we want? ELSE!! When do we want it? NOW!!".

You know, I'm kinda surprise you guys even had Judgment Day Types up there--I was in Phoenix and we didn't have any at all! Bizarre. I blame Ballard. Angry Pious Swedes.

So wait, repenting would guarantee me an eternity with uptight Bible humpers? I believe I too would prefer a healthy dose of "or else". Or Jor-El. Or Hormel.

I know. I was stunned. It was totally unprompted, I just mentioned I was headed down there. Very cool.

Me too. She came to my Outfest event in LA which was huge, and now this. That's two supportive events! What can it all mean? :)

maybe she's softening in her old age?

Well, to be clear: she has never, ever had a problem with my gender situation. (She was a little annoyed when I was a small child/preteen but she got over it--and I'm sure it's been awkward for her at times dealing with her friends, who are a little more conservative racetrack/rancher types. But she really doesn't care--and in fact that's been the downside: the indifference/complete disinterest in my life has been difficult to take over the years. So to see her expressing an interest is nice.

let me rephrase that: maybe she's realizing some of the mistakes she made and is trying to correct them by becoming more interested in your life? stranger things have happened.

I think we're just running out of family members. But I like your theory better.

I blame all those Smiths records I listened to in my teens. I'd blame the Bauhaus instead but I was never that cool.

Wait, when do you want equal rights? Because I had you penciled in for next Wednesday.

Please allow 4-6 years for delivery...

Equal rights are not enough for me. I demand special rights. In fact, as one of Wikipedia's Famous Bisexuals* I demand the right to marry one spouse of each gender. Perhaps the LDS church will get behind that.

*I swear I had absolutely nothing to do with this. Offhand interview remark and poof, I'm on the list. I also used to be a Teamster! Where's my inclusion in the Jimmy Hoffa article?
