badatapologies: (amend this)
American military involvement in Vietnam began in 1950, when the first US military "advisers" arrived to "advise" the French colonial troops (and fund their puppet government) and ended in 1973--23 bloody, pointless years and uncounted hundreds of billions of dollars later--with both their country and ours in decaying, bankrupt ruins.

Today, the President stood in front of a group of veterans who'd risked their lives in that conflict and announced with his usual combination of craven sociopathic manipulation and brazen pig-ignorance that the real problem in Vietnam was that America pulled out too soon. 23 years was not enough. Another six months and we would have had Charlie on the ropes! Damn that cowardly liberal Defeat-o-crat Richard M. Nixon!

The real question is not who will be sworn in as President in 2009 but whether there will be anything left in 2009 to be President of.
