Rookie Mistakes (part 11,721 in a seies)

Ah, a nice sunny summer day. So warm. Nice hammock in the backyard, calling my name.

So warm. So deliciously warm. Liberated from the nasty-ass Bay Area foggy misery at last! I'm so tired of being covered up. And this babydoll t-shirt tan is embarrassing. The fence is high, no one can see over. Dare I-- dare I sunbathe topless?

I do. I dare. Yes. Ah, the sun. So warm. So very warm on my translucent Morticia-Addams-esque skin. Sunbathing topless! Lookit me, I am a fancy European whore! So decadent. So relaxed. So very...sleeeepy. So sleepy. So warm and sleepy. So.... zzzzzzzzzzzz....

90 minutes later...

So very sunburned. Youch! Damn you, European whores! Anyone got any cocoa butter or aloe or Noxema or whatever you're supposed to do with sunburned...skin?

Also please send Jude Law to apply same. Thanks.

In somewhat less flaming-nipple-related news...

I note with regret the passing of the Manchester music impresario Tony Wilson, without whom, etc, etc, etc. If you haven't seen Michael Winterbottom's fantastic quasi-biopic of Wilson and the Manchester scene, 24 Hour Party People, you are missing a real cinematic and musical treat, not least of which is the brilliant Steve Coogan's priceless performance as Wilson. It's an energetic, inventive film with a clever narrative structure, a perverse disrespect for the fourth wall and a cheeky acknowledgment that the facts presented therein may be total fabrications. You should see it.

Also, only in England can a grown man with the name "Winterbottom" be taken seriously.

Also also, the United States is now 42nd in the world in terms of life expectancy. The whole country is becoming Mississippi. Perhaps "is becoming" is the wrong tense.

Why I Love Ovation TV

What other channel would devote Saturday night to a two hour movie about Ub Iwerks? Damn. Good stuff.

Also, clearly I need a date. Because I am spending Saturday evening watching a two hour movie about Ub Iwerks.
