Accroches-toi a ton âne
We had a good little jolt a few minutes ago. By earthquake magnitude standards it was a wee one, but it was pretty close to the house. It felt like some prankster was pulling that "pull the tablecloth out from under the crap on the table" trick, only with the ground and the house...the whole place jolted towards the bay for a second. And it made quite a boom. There's a section of the Hayward fault about a mile and a half from here that's been slipping on a regular basis for several months...logically I realize that slipping should reduce the chance for a hum-dinger earthquake, but after having survived the '89 (and several others since), earthquakes do not amuse me one whit.
Also, I am apparently 97 years old.

me too!
BUT, i keep forgetting to tell you, last week there was an earthquake in Northridge or Chatwalls or something and i TOTALLY felt it. woke up at 12:59am to the bed shaking. i realized pretty quickly what it was, heard some things rattling in the living room, and decided it wasn't going to be too bad so i just stayed in bed.
i guess i'm a real californiian now, non plussed by earthquakes. or really fucking lazy.
