As you know, the [livejournal.com profile] mcbrennan blog is a virtual kingmaker in the world of showbiz, so brace yourselves as I anoint Andy Barker, P.I. the Funniest Show On TV. Well, it will be the funniest show on TV as of Thursday, March 15 at 9:30 (8:30 Central) on NBC, when it finally gets on TV. (Like the Boy in the Plastic Bubble, television comedy can only exist in a rarified programming environment, 8-10pm Thursdays, which means 30 Rock will get the old heave-ho-hiatus for six weeks.) Andy Barker was co-written by Conan O'Brien and Jonathan Groff, with staff writers like Daniel Hsia and the faboo Jane Espenson, and starring Andy Richter and Tony Hale (Buster from Arrested Development). Can't beat a pedigree like that. (Well, okay, Elaine May, Vittorio Storaro, Paul Williams, Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty probably looked good on paper, too, but this will work out better. I hope.) You may even invoke the sacred name of Lookwell before it's done.

I had a dream the other night I was trapped in a haunted theatre that was overrun by vampires. I tried to escape, but before I could get to the door, I was stopped. By a vampire.

It was John McEnroe. Vampire John McEnroe.

He groused loudly about being a vampire. And about the entire vampire setup, which was apparently very unfair. And then...well, he got down to business.

I swear to the deity of your choice, I woke up with two little sores on my neck that look suspiciously like vampire bites. Mosquitoes, maybe? Watch my behaviour for signs of childish petulance.

Because that would be really uncharacteristic. Yup.
