Actual audition notice in my mailbox this afternoon:

"[ PEPPERONI ]
Female / Caucasian / 20-35
She is a sassy Parker Posey-like gum smacking piece of Pepperoni who has an attitude about kids wanting anything less fabulous or less popular than her on their pizza."

First James Dean decided to go into the sausage-smoking business and now Parker Posey's gone Parkeroni. (And before you ask, I'm too tall for the suit, and I weigh like four Parker Poseys. Plus I'm the wrong type--I'm like Teri Garr crossed with Twinkie The Kid.)

Attention [livejournal.com profile] urbaniak: They are also auditioning for a neurotic onion.

People who can respond to that casting call should be fired into the sun. As soon as we do that to the person who wrote the prose.

Mmmmmm....delicious sun-fired pepperoni...

To be fair, I edited out the part where the writer spoke somewhat skeptically about the concept of this project and the ability of any human being to deliver the copy they'd written. Still, I'm glad I don't have that job.

I heard they made an offer to Liev Schreiber.

That's just an irresponsible internet rumor. I understand [livejournal.com profile] xbt and Liev had lunch the other day and shared an actorly laugh about it.

Ha! :-)

The project itself is probably not as hilarious as the audition notice.

How do you get on audition notice mailing lists?

There are a million of these services, especially in LA, where you can sign up and get notices from everybody from Central Casting to Showfax to Actors Access and so on. Occasionally I also get *ahem* specialty casting notices from deepstealth.com. There are so many of these, and all I can really say is avoid anything that charges more than the most minimal fee. There are also sections on craigslist for these things in different cities, and a lot of places have a local actors' casting board. Best way to find that is to ask around, call a local theatre company, etc.

I am totally not above playing a smartass Parker Posey pepperoni. In fact that might be a step up.

Thanks!

I’ll have to check and see if similar services exist here in Vancouver. :-)
